Club AGM.

Last night was a very productive meeting for us; great progress was made with arrangements for 2012.

An new interim committee was appointed:-

Assistants have also been appointed:-

Gary Quinlan agreed to continue the work he has already undertaken on the preparation of a new constitution for the group. A copy of the minutes will be sent out soon.

A few exciting plans for next year are in the wind;

In early January, we have been invited to go to Ipswich Art gallery to build and race whacky Lego racers; should be an interesting night. further details will be released when they come to hand.

The first meeting for the year was to be on the 21st of January, but we have put it back a week as some members might like to go to Melbourne. The night of 28th is a MOC night and the theme is 'Aussie'. Here is a chance to display your patriotic fervour.

Plans are also afoot for our own LEGO Expo later in the year.

Big Yellow MOC Competition results.

With a large majority of the members in attendance a great night was had by all, some amazing MOCs were shown and a great deal of fun was had in the speed building competition. The MOC competition was highly competative, while most entrants had used a few extra parts, a few members stood up proudly, boasting their status for ONLY using the parts given.

So now the results...Congratulations go to:

Congratulations to the winners and many thanks to Bricks n Fun for the prizes. Also, a very big thanks to LEGO Australia who donated the huge supply of yellow LEGO we used.

After a great Pizza dinner we had the speed building competition. The first round of eight consisted of the new members, while the second round of eight saw some older hands have a go. With the top two from both rounds going forward and a wildcard entry from Aaron, the reigning club speedbuild champion, we saw a hotly contested final and and a new king crowned! Congratulations to Jeremy (1st) and Marcus-C (2nd).

All of the MOC entries can be seen in the Gallery section, check it out!

Viva Brick Vegas!

With confirmation of our attendance at BMTS - The Brisbane Model Train Show at the end of April, we are proud to announce the theme for this year's display: Brick Vegas.

To explain for those overseas, this is a play on Brisbane's nickname 'Bris Vegas'. I'm not sure on the rules when it comes to a play on words on another play on words, but it does seem fitting for what will be a tribute to our Themepark-laden corner of Queensland.

Our thanks go out to our Layout Co-ordinator, Russell, for his organisational work on this years project as well his literary skills with the Introductory piece for the BMTS flyers (below).

Viva Brick Vegas!

Catch the Lego trains as they take you through the glittering city of "Brick Vegas" and surrounds. Stop at "Screamworld Station' and walk through the guarded entrance of the magical theme park. Hold your breath as you watch little people ride the terrifying 'Creepy Colossus' or fall back to earth on the 'Dreaded Drop'. Some may like to ride the 'Zurg'; watch them stagger off.

For those who aren't taller than the bar, ride on the carousel, the ferris wheel or the pirate ship. Perhaps a visit to the circus might be in order or lunch in the castle restaurant.

Next stop is the bustling city of 'Brick Vegas'. See all the hotels decorated as foreign landmarks; The Eiffel Tower, The Taj Mahal, London Bridge, etc. Look down the side streets to see the daily lives of the citizens. Check out all the eateries.

Then it is off to the country where you can relax at the farm or have a swim in the lake. Count the number of animals or note the different machines. I wonder if you can see any historical settings? Travel on the monorail to visit 'Mystic Mountain'. Check amongst the trees for treasure. Imagine the adventures that you can have at each level. Like any big city, change is inevitable. 'Brick Vegas' might be different if you revisit the next day.

See you all at the Show, 30th April to 2nd May at Brisbane's RNA Showgrounds!

BLTG Launches New Website

After several months of work BLTG has finally revealed it's new website(which you are looking at now!), giving it a much needed facelift as well as a proper domain name. While further improvements are yet to come, the foundations are set now that the overhaul of the structure is complete. A big thanks goes out to Gary, for his tireless work over most of the last eight years maintaining the old site.
